Butterboom introduces top London designers to Hong Kong with pop-up

Butterboom is an online magazine that reports on the latest events and developments in fashion from store openings to new brands and designers entering the Hong Kong and Asia market. The brand was founded as a response to the absence of English language fashion and beauty magazines available in Hong Kong, fashion capital of Asia.

With their latest pop-up on Lyndhurst Terrace that opened from November 16 to 22, Butterboom introduced a collection of products from top fashion designers to the Hong Kong market. The products on display were from a selection of up-and-coming London designers. The British brands are mostly online based and Butterboom organized the pop-up as a way for Hong Kong customers to walk into a store to see and feel the products for themselves.

This is a unique collection of fashion items you can’t find elsewhere in Hong Kong,” Pannee Ng, Partnership Content/Founder of Butterboom told us. “We made sure to create a range of products to make this pop-up a one-stop shopping location with something for everyone from accessories to jewelry, and dresses to shoes. There’s something for everyone here.” The collection included designs from Rosie Kent, Rosie Fortescue, Carrie Elizabeth, Myia Bonner and Alighieri.

Central was the right location for Butterboom as most of their readers live in Mid-Levels and other parts close by on Hong Kong Island. The pop-up location on Lyndhurst Terrace was especially fitting as Pannee said the shopfront reminded her of a typical London shop and had a British feeling to it. “Storefront has a great range of listings on the platform, and we were really happy when we secured this location,” she said. Butterboom is a returning customer as they also used the Storefront platform for their previous pop-up in Wellington Street.

Further, Pannee added that they will continue to organize pop-ups in the future. She noticed that normal rent prices in Hong Kong are simply too high for up-and-coming designers and younger brands, and pop-ups are a way to solve that.
