Paris: Storefront opens doors in the fashion capital

Storefront sets the stage for future fashion weeks with the most extensive network of rentable showrooms in Paris

Paris is always a good idea. – Audrey Hepburn

Fashion weeks are accompanied by an expected amount of boredom and excitement, established brands and new designers. In New York City, the move away from the traditional Bryant Park tents heralded a significant change in what venues and locations constitute the main fashion week calendar, the fashion “on Broadway” as it were. Now, everything from old factories to hotel suites are fair game for fashion shows and showrooms. The shift is felt no less in the other fashion capitals. In Milan, the most revered new designers feature in old churches, and in Paris, haute couturiers are sending their models sashaying away from the historical École des Beaux-Arts catwalks. Integral to the changing fashion week cartography are Pop-Up Stores and see-now-buy-now shops, which Vogue predicts are the fashion shows of the future.

The ready-to-wear fashion week in Paris last week was not lacking in pomp and circumstance, and had more than its fair share of drama with the Kim Kardashian robbery. There was, however, a slightly more subtle, more integral addition to le monde du mode that promises to change Paris fashion weeks significantly in the years to come… Storefront.
